2008-06-26 15:01:43 - NYOIL says ‘It is important that ART inspire growth. I am an entertainer by trade but an Artist and Activist by nature, so I hope you are inspired after hearing this song and reading this short essay to think about the subjects presented and how they impact you.’
About 2 months ago legendary hip hop front man Chuck D of the illustrious hip hop / rap group Public Enemy appeared on Hot 97’s morning show and when asked who are some of the artist he was listening to; who were some of the artist holding up the tradition he cited controversial hip hop MC NYOIL as one of a very short list. That immediately sent shockwaves throughout the industry as it validated the hard work that NYOIL and his Team have been working on for these last 2 years.
NYOIL’S Manager YZ (another legendary official MC “Tower of Power”, “I’m Thinking of a master plan” and SOO much more to his credit) reached out to Chuck to see if doing a song on the re-release of NYOIL’s album would be possible. BabyGrande had agreed to release the original album but requested some new songs to make this a new product for the consumer. So being under the gun in terms of time and resources, the legendary hip hop front man Chuck D agreed immediately and went so far as to shift his schedule around to accommodate doing the song immediately to help NYOIL and his team meet their deadline.
The result is a track titled ‘Soldier’. The track will be on NYOIL’s forthcoming album ‘HoodTREASON’. The 2 cd deluxe edition which will be available July 8th on PEM./ BabyGrande Records.
NYOIL would like to tell you about how it came to be and what it means to him to have legendary Chuck D appear on his album.

New York Businessman Jacob Arabov, who is known in the hip-hop world as ‘Jacob the Jeweler,’ was sentenced to 2 1/2 years in federal prison for lying to police investigating a multistate drug ring.
In October, the 43-year-old Russian immigrant pleaded guilty to falsifying records and giving false statements. It was a part of a plea deal with federal prosecutors who requested that the district judge impose a minimum sentence of 3 years and one month in prison.
Seven months was taken off the recommendation because of Arabov’s involvement in charity work. “I feel ashamed that I broke the laws of this country, a country that has been so good for me. I will carry this shame for the rest of my life,” Arabov said.
He was also sentenced to pay a $50,000 fine and make a $2 million forfeiture payment to the government.
Arabov and others were accused of laundering about $270 million in drug profits. Those charges were dropped as a part of the plea deal. He was also accused of conspiring to launder drug profits for the “Black Mafia Family.” Arabov and 41 others were indicted.
Arabov is known as the King of Bling as he became popular among hip-hop artists. He and rapper Kanye West launched a ling of jewelry and he manufactured Lil’ Kim’s line of watches.
